We have central air, but on the hottest days it is necessary to use something in addition to the central air. Two years ago I tested a Ozeri 3x Tower Fan and found it to be an excellent helper. It is tall and thin so it doesn’t take up much space in the room and has a modern, sleek look so it doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb. The air power is amazing. You can feel it up to five feet away and can be adjusted to suit your needs. It is quite so it doesn’t disturb you while sleeping or watching tv. It has definitely saved us during the dog days of summer and we have even used it outside on the porch! You can set it to point one way or have it oscillate. The only issue I have experienced with it is that the tower loosens from the base eventually and it starts to lean. It is an easy fix, though. I just have to periodically tighten it from under the base. I am not sure if using the oscillating feature causes this, but over time it starts to wobble. I have found that it is worth tightening every so often to have this additional air flow and may get another in the future because it is so helpful!
