The window/wall units take forever to cool down an area and even then, I rarely really felt it unless I was right in front of it. So I would end up with a fan train trying to push that air along to other areas. That gets incredibly frustrating. With central air, it is cooling our downstairs well but the upstairs never gets very cool. This is most likely due to a lack of insulation in our walls but I believe it is also partially the fact that we need to have our ducts cleaned out and can’t afford it. The lack of clean ducts also means a lot of allergens are being blown all over our house and we suffer for it. We also froze our unit at one point because it was working too hard. Another issue with central air is that you are paying more to cool down the entire home when sometimes you don’t need every room cooled down. It would be great to be able to control which rooms you cool as opposed to having one or all.
