On a few occasions last year, I took the unit outside to use while entertaining family and friends. I have found this unit to cool my small 900sq ft home and it is more efficient than the traditional evaporative cooler that is on the roof. It takes no time to cool, and on cool evenings you can use the fan only feature to keep the air currents moving. It has 3 speeds and also has a side-by-side action where you can move the air all around. One of the nice features is that you can attach a hose to the unit for continuous water supply, but I have not tried that yet. I keep the unit filled manually. It uses less energy than the roof top cooler, which I found interesting. The only cons to the unit are, yes, it is indoors, so the fan noise is inside, but it is not any louder than a room fan, and the unit is a little large, about the size of a recliner, so if you put it in a small room it can take up a lot of space. Outdoor usage was fun, it cooled the patio quickly just like indoors, however, while doing so, it used more water, so hooking it up to a hose would be the more efficient way to keep the unit supplied with water.
