These filters claim to remove particles as small as .3 microns. This is equipped with an air quality sensor and an automatic mode that I like quite a bit. It stays quiet at night making little more than a hum and goes into a higher fan setting when it senses particles in the air. This has 4 speeds including a quiet mode. The auto mode cycles through the speeds as needed based on the air quality sensor. This tends to be a bit loud at the highest fan setting but it moves a lot of air. The buttons are flush with the top of the unit and require only gentle push to activate. I have been using this unit for about 3 years now and the buttons are still functioning properly. This unit also comes with a remote control that functions as it should. The carbon pre filter does a good job removing dust from the air and claims to deodorize the air also. I cannot speak to the deodorizing action due to my wife’s constant air freshener use. The air smells the same coming out as it does going in to me. After a few weeks of use the carbon prefilter turns gray from the dust collection but the air flow does not seem to be impeded. The 2nd stage HEPA filter does not need to be changed but once or twice a year due to the efficiency of the carbon filters. Overall this air filter seems to remove a lot of dust and allergens from the air and I really like the auto mode utilizing the air quality sensor. The downside is that the filters are quite expensive. They run over $80 for 4 carbon prefilters and 1 HEPA filter. These last about a year. Also it was a bit difficult to find the correct size filters (size 25) due to multiple models with different sizes. Another problem with this model is that the plastic brace that is supposed to keep the prefilter flush with the HEPA filter does not fit properly and the prefilter may be letting air in around it. This needs to be addressed in order to avoid air bypassing the prefilter. This air purifier would receive 5 stars if this was not an issue and if the filters were a bit more affordable. Overall a good unit and effective at cleaning the air. I would recommend this unit for people with allergies and people with pets.
